Top Republican Endorses Dan Bongino For USSS Director

In an interview on podcaster Benny Johnson’s show late last week, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan said that he would back President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent who is now a conservative author and media mogul, to lead the Federal Protective Service.

The Ohio Republican told Johnson, “I think Dan would be great.” “Dan Bongino at the Secret Service would be with us on the change that needs to take place to focus on the mission of that critical agency.”

The magazine Forbes said in November that Trump is trying to choose between Bongino and Sean Curran to lead the agency.

After two failed attempts on Trump’s life over the summer, Bongino has been very critical of the Secret Service.

It was originally written by Bongino, “Let me be clear: the [first] attempt on President Trump’s life was a terrible failure on the part of the United States Secret Service.”

The first attempt on Kimberly Cheatle’s life and the agency’s obvious lack of ability led to her resignation. She was questioned by Congress and told by both parties that she had to leave or be fired.

Forbes reported at the time that Trump had chosen people for a few Cabinet-level jobs that need to be approved by the Senate. He also chose a White House chief of staff, a communications director, and a national security adviser, which are all key positions that don’t need to be confirmed. Since then, Trump has put dozens of other people in important jobs.
