Gene Hackman’s daughters, Elizabeth and Leslie Hackman, were seen in public for the first time following the shocking deaths of
their father and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. The sisters, appearing composed, were photographed dining at a California restaurant just a day after the tragedy. Their demeanor sparked online debate, with some questioning how they could remain so calm amid an ongoing investigation.
Authorities discovered Hackman and Arakawa’s bodies in their Santa Fe home on February 26, after a caretaker called 911 upon seeing two unresponsive individuals through a window. Deputies found the couple, along with one of their dogs, deceased. Though no signs of foul play were initially detected, toxicology tests have been ordered to rule out carbon monoxide poisoning or other hazards. Investigators also noted scattered prescription pills near Arakawa’s body and an altered space heater.
