Elton John is slowly recuperating from a health problem that affected his vision.

On September 4, 2024, the “Rocket Man” singer revealed that he has restricted vision in one eye due to a recent health issue. Fans reacted instantly, giving their love and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Elton John put it this way: “Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.”

John stated that while he is mending, the process is exceedingly slow, and it will be some time before his vision returns to the damaged eye.

He thanked everyone who helped him, saying, “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses, as well as my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.”

The singer has quietly spent the summer resting at home and is pleased with his progress in healing and recovery thus far. Fans wished Elton John a speedy recovery and expressed their support.

However, John remains optimistic and grateful for the support he’s received, reminding everyone why he’s still a beloved star both on and off the stage.

While on stage, John never performs without his sunglasses. “I tried it in the early Eighties but I felt exposed. Glasses give me confidence. I’m not me without them,” he disclosed.

Inside, one wall is adorned with 158 pairs of optical frames and sunglasses, all designed by him, some inspired by those he has worn on stage over the years. He proudly mentioned that he wears them all the time.

Apart from his eyes, John has had health challenges with his hip. In 2021, he rescheduled his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Europe and the UK to 2023.

“At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.”, he explained.

The singer revealed that in spite of undergoing extensive physiotherapy and specialized treatment, his pain progressively worsened. This had made movement increasingly difficult. Doctors recommended surgery to ensure his full recovery and to prevent any potential long-term issues.

“I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.,” shared John.

In 2023, Elton had another health incident after taking a fall at his villa in Nice, France, and was briefly hospitalized. However, he was later discharged.

The singer’s representative confirmed that after a precautionary visit to a local hospital for checkups, he was released the morning after he fell and was taken back home, in good health. In 2022, fans expressed concern over John’s health after tabloids circulated images of him in a wheelchair.

He took to Instagram to address the speculations, writing, “The true story is that I’m in top health, loving my shows and playing and singing at my very best. I give 100% every night and never want to disappoint, especially after everyone has waited so long to get back to seeing shows.”

The talented singer expressed his gratitude, noting that the audience’s response to every show he has hosted has been extraordinary, and he’s cherishing every moment of it.
