Wasn’t beside me. Panic surged through me as I sat up, scanning the dimly lit room. And then, I saw him.
My husband was on the floor, his body convulsing with laughter, tears streaming down his face. Confusion mingled with my concern as I stumbled out of bed, rushing to his side.
“What’s going on?” I asked, my voice laced with worry.
He looked up at me, his laughter subsiding as he struggled to catch his breath. “You should have seen your face!” he exclaimed, his words punctuated by giggles.
I frowned, my heart still racing with anxiety. “What are you talking about?” I demanded, my patience wearing thin.
He wiped away a tear, his laughter finally subsiding as he composed himself. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist,” he said, his voice filled with remorse. “I wanted to play a little prank on you.”
I stared at him, disbelief washing over me. “A prank?” I echoed, my mind reeling with confusion.
He nodded sheepishly, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. “I set up this little contraption under the bed,” he explained. “It’s connected to my phone, and I can make the bed shake remotely.”
I shook my head in disbelief, a mixture of frustration and amusement bubbling inside me. “You scared me half to death!” I exclaimed, unable to suppress a small smile.
He reached out to me, his expression earnest. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you,” he said, his voice soft with sincerity. “I just wanted to make our first night as a married couple memorable.”
Despite my annoyance, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of affection for him. With a sigh, I sank down beside him, wrapping my arms around him in a tight embrace.
“Well, you certainly succeeded,” I admitted, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. “But let’s make a deal – no more pranks on our honeymoon, okay?”
He chuckled, pulling me closer to him. “Deal,” he said, pressing a tender kiss to my forehead. And as we lay there together, wrapped in each other’s arms, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the love and laughter that filled our lives.
